Despite an improved performance on the day, Town looked destined to be edged by Millwall at the Den until the referee blew his whistle and pointed to the spot deep into added time.
In the 95th of 96 signalled minutes extra to be played, a Town corner was cleared to the edge of the box and struck back toward goal, with a hand blocking its flight in clear view of the referee.
Delano Burgzorg stepped up after a short delay and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, calmly slotting to his right in front of the travelling Town support, sending those Terriers who had made the long journey south into extended celebration.
Having fallen behind to a Norton-Cuffy tap in from close range that saw Lee Nicholls injured, the result seemed unjust with the Terriers much more proactive, confident and adventurous going forward, with Jack Rudoni’s welcome return playing a huge part in that.
An important point, Town have another long trip awaiting to Norwich City before Christmas, with two home games against Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough at the John Smith’s Stadium before the turn of the year.
