Attacking midfielder Alex Pritchard praised Huddersfield Town’s performance despite losing 1-0 at home to Liverpool.

A solitary strike from Mo Salah condemned the Terriers to defeat, but David Wagner’s side showed great spirit in the game and created a number of chances.

‘Pritch’ applauded his teammates for their work ethic and explained how they felt after losing to the side that sits second in the Premier League table.

“I’m very disappointed because I though we were very good. Defensively, we were very good, going forward, we were very good at creating chances.

“I think the boys worked very hard back to front, we nullified them – we know how good they are - and I have to say it’s disappointing to come away with defeat again.”

Despite playing consistently well for a number of weeks, Town is still looking for a first win of the 2018/19 season. The attacking midfielder explained what he thinks will help turn performances into results.

“We need to put the ball in the back of the net, simple. We are playing very good football at the moment.

“Defensively we are switched on when we do loose the ball up the pitch and we get it back quickly.

“We do need to turn it round, get some wins but like I said, if we keep playing like that, surely it has to come soon.”

The 25-year-old praised the 24,263 supporters at the John Smith’s Stadium for the atmosphere they created.

“The atmosphere was unbelievable again – I think the fans will be like that all season.

“We are thankful, you see all the players applauding them afterwards; it’s so frustrating for ourselves not to pick the points up for them.

“They are behind us every week and we are thankful for that.”
