In what was already a bigger game than usual as the Club waved goodbye and celebrated outgoing legends Neil Warnock and Ronnie Jepson, the football didn’t disappoint, either.

An open game played at a real pace, it was Town who took the lead despite Stoke having the better of the play. Rising highest to meet a corner, defender Matty Pearson netted his first of the season to give the Terriers a brief lead.

Equalising virtually instantaneously from close range, Town had to regather themselves during the break after being on the backfoot for the remainder of the first half, with the trio of Delano Burgzorg, Jaheim Headley and Ben Jackson all introduced for the second period.

A much more complete display after the break, it was Stoke’s turn to score from a set play as they took the lead from their own well worked corner. In another piece of symmetry, Town then equalised themselves soon after, with Jack Rudoni doing well to swivel and score from close range.

Either side could’ve won in the final exchanges, although Town did have the better chances. Unable to make the space count despite a raucous crowd willing the ball in, the game ended in a score draw and allowed Neil Warnock and Ronnie Jepson to depart without a defeat in three.
