It was a Boxing Day to remember in HD1 as goals from Jaheim Headley, Sorba Thomas and Delano Burgzorg saw Town run out 3-0 winners in convincing fashion at the John Smith's Stadium!
A fast-paced, full blooded affair from the first minute, both sides showed real desire to take the lead with numbers comitted forward in attack with regularity by each.
Town looked dangerous in the final third from the off, passing with precision and purpose as they worked their way forward, with that finally paying off when Jaheim Headley's strike from the edge of the box hit the back of the net.
With an injury to Chris Maxwell ocurring midway through the half, young Australian goalkeeper Jacob Chapman was introduced to make his Club and Sky Bet Championship debut, and he was recieved warmly by the Town faithful. Continuing to push forward for the remainder of the half, Town couldn't add to their lead before the break.
Having made two changes in the break, Blackburn looked much more decisive in the opening ten minutes of the second half, but Town weathered their early storm and begun to hit back when on the ball. Having narrowly missed one opportunity on the break through David Kasumu after nice work from Sorba Thomas, it was Sorba himself who put the finishing touch on the next venture into the final third, tapping home from Delano Burgzorg's cross.
Riding high on that emotion, Town soon added a third after a pair of substitutions that saw Josh Koroma and Loick Ayina introduced, with the latter making his own Sky Bet Championship debut. In his first action since coming on, Koroma beat a defender on the edge of the box before playing in Burgzorg, who smashed home his sixth of the season to date to put a deserved cap on an excellent team performance.
Managing the remainder of the game with another outing on Friday 29 December in three days against Middlesbrough, it was easily the most convincing result and performance of Darren Moore's reign to date.
