18-year-old Huddersfield Town B Team midfielder commits future to the Club

- Tom lorpenda signs contract extension with Town
- New deal keeps lorpenda with Club until June 2027
- Comments from Mark Cartwright and Darren Moore

We are delighted to confirm that B Team midfielder Tom lorpenda has committed his future to the Club, extending his contract until at least summer 2027!

Our reigning Antoni's Memorial Academy Player of the Year, young midfielder lorpenda is still only 18 years old but has made a seamless step up to B Team level in the past two seasons, underlining both his talent and potential to improve.

Joining in the summer of 2021 from Brighton and Hove Albion where he was most often used out wide, lorpenda was moved inside by Town, initially in holding midfield and occasionally in central defence before stepping forward into a more dynamic number eight, box-to-box position.

His second professional contract with the Club having put pen-to-paper on his first in July 2022, he has already spent time out on loan experiencing first team football with Hyde United in March 2023 where he played seven times, starting on six of those occasions.

Training regularly with Darren Moore's First Team, the contract extension keeps Tom with the Terriers for four more years until at least June 2027.

Huddersfield Town Sporting Director Mark Cartwright commented:

"We're really happy to have agreed a long-term extension with Tom, and he's completely earned this new contract. It's no secret how highly we rate him and his potential, so it's incredibly positive that we've tied him down for four more years.

"It speaks volumes that a talent of Tom's nature clearly has trust in the Club to commit his future to us here, and our Academy have done brilliantly to push him every step of the way to get the most from his game and improve at such a rate.

"With a contract of this length for a player of his age, we clearly see a pathway for Tom into our First Team should he continue on the road he's currently taking. I'd like to congratulate him on the extension, and as a Club we're excited to see his best yet to come!"

Town Manager Darren Moore added:

"Working with players across the whole Club has been a focus of ours since we joined, and we've talked a lot about wanting to be able to place trust in younger players and develop them from our Academy into First Team regulars - Tom is a perfect example of that.

"He is still only 18, but has the potential to be exactly the kind of midfielder we'd love to have at First Team level if he continues to get his head down and work hard. He has a brilliant attitude and fantastic ability, holding his own in training with our First Team group whenever asked.

"I'm looking forward to monitoring his progression and working with him more regularly in the future."

Congratulations on the new contract, Tom!
