Darren Moore earned his first win as Town Manager thanks to goals from Kian Harratt and Jack Rudoni as Town flew out of the blocks at the John Smith’s Stadium.

In what would eventually become the game winning stretch of the contest, Town were exceptional in the opening half an hour, flying forward at will at every opportunity, scoring twice.

With both goals coming from the wings, the first was thanks to an inch perfect ball across from Jack Rudoni to Kian Harratt who was free on the penalty spot, taking a touch before rolling the ball past Asmir Begovic from close range.

Switching wings, some lovely interplay from Ben Wiles and Matty Pearson set Sorba Thomas free down the right, and his low cut back was met first time by Rudoni who found enough of the corner to beat Begovic for a second time in quick succession.

Town were punished before the break for sitting back rather than continuing to fly forward, with Queens Park Rangers converting from a corner kick that could have been avoided. Giving the away side some belief, the second half was far more even, and Town might have had bigger regrets had it not been for a fabulous block on the line from Michał Helik.

An important three points after the international break, Town will be looking to back that up on Tuesday evening back at the John Smith’s Stadium with Cardiff City our visitors.
