Huddersfield Town charity walk raises huge funds in fight against Motor Neurone Disease

- Miles for Marcus raises £42,953.45
- Club’s latest Walk For Pounds honoured Marcus Stewart
- All funds donated to Darby Rimmer MND Foundation

We are proud to confirm that our Miles For Marcus charity walk has raised £42,953.45 for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, with the Club delighted to honour Marcus Stewart and join him in the fight against Motor Neurone Disease.

Taking place before our recent home draw with Ipswich Town, the latest in our series of Walk For Pounds saw over 150 walkers tackle either an 18-miles hike or accessible four mile alternative, with all involved finishing in time for a pre-match lap of honour at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Having been inspired by former Terrier and Club favourite Marcus Stewart’s bravery in the face of his own Motor Neurone Disease diagnosis, Town joined in the fight against MND with huge support from our fans, helping raise almost £43,000 for an incredible, worthwhile and timely cause.

Sponsored by Chadwick Lawrence, the walk was organised by the Club’s Supporter Services department, consistent of Club Ambassador Andy Booth, Head of Supporter Experience Robyn Kennerdale and Supporter Services Manager Rachel Taylor.

Discussing the walk and the magnificent total raised, Andy Booth commented:

“The generosity of Huddersfield Town supporters never fails to amaze me, with this huge total raised by our Miles For Marcus just going to show how generous Town fans are, and how much Marcus Stewart and his fight against MND means to them.

“This was a really tough route and challenge, but we’re over the moon that so much has been raised for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, who are doing some fantastic work in raising awareness of Motor Neurone Disease and doing their part in trying to find a cure for good.

“I say it each time, but these events are always the most special part of my role as Club Ambassador, and I want to really thank Chadwick Lawrence, all of our help and volunteers, each and every walker and all you Terriers who donated for not just making this possible, but a huge success, too. It’s what Huddersfield Town is all about.

“On behalf of Marcus and his wife Louise, they would like to give their own thanks to all of our participants and those generous enough to donate to a cause that is so close to their heart.”
