- 19-year-old bagged brace against Bolton Wanderers
Huddersfield Town B Team player Charles Ondo was happy with his team’s performance as he netted twice in the Young Terriers’ 2-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday afternoon.
Ondo put his side into a two-goal lead before the 60th minute after assists from Aaron Rowe and Myles Bright.
The 19-year-old was not only happy to get his name on the scoresheet twice, but with the overall performance from his team.
“It was a good game and I think that we managed the game really well, especially when getting the two-goal lead.
“We did well as a team and made sure we stuck together; it was a great start to the campaign.
“I’m really enjoying playing up front – picking up the striker responsibilities and loving it!”
Ondo then reflected on how his younger teammates played when they came on as substitutes towards the end of the game.
“The younger lads that came on did really well – they didn’t back down!
“I feel like the training with us and playing with us is allowing them to learn from the older guys and it’s great to have them.”
The Young Terrier discussed how much it means to himself and to the team to win two Cup games in such a short space of each other.
“Personally, it means a lot to be playing and winning these games because I was injured during the first two seasons, so I missed out on a lot of competitive games like the FA Youth Cup and the Premier League Cup as well as the Central League Cup.
“Getting these minutes in now is very important.
“As a team, we didn’t get to where we wanted to be last season in the Cups, but I feel like this season we’re really on top of it and it means a lot.”
