Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán praised his side’s effort after they drew 1-1 with Brentford at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The draw means that the Terriers are now five games unbeaten in the Sky Bet Championship.

After the match, Corberán gave his thoughts and heaped praise on his players.

“I think the result balanced all the things that happened in the game.

“But the way we conceded the goal and the options to counter attack that we had in the second half, allowed us to go for another goal; that would help us celebrate this type of result.

“At the same time, I know how much effort the team put in today, which was unbelievable, to get the result, so we need to appreciate that.”

The Terriers took the lead when Lewis O’Brien scored after just seven minutes, however, the Bees pulled a goal back early on in the second half.

Town’s Head Coach explained what his side did well tactically against the promotion-chasing Brentford side.

“The idea today was to have the ball too because if you’re just defending against Brentford it’s not going to be an easy game.

“To recover the ball, we needed to press high and doing that in the first minutes worked really well and Lewis scored after we recovered the ball in the offensive half. So, for us it was important to dominate them and feel comfortable in their half.

“We wanted to dominate the ball, which is why we played with Vallejo in the middle, because he’s one player that will help the team to have the ball. He creates the space and time for the other ones.

“After his injury, we changed because Bacuna is an 8. We didn’t have the ball as much and they attacked more, which moved us into a low block. They had a lot of possibilities because they attacked with rotation and made it complicated.

“In the second half, it was one set piece situation that we conceded from. There were some doubts because one referee said it was our throw, the main referee said it was for them, and those doubts created them an advantage.

“I can’t accept we concede a goal like that. In this situation, we need to be more concentrated.”
