Striker Andre Edionhon heading to tournament in Turkey

Huddersfield Town Academy scholar Andre Edionhon has received a call-up to the Nigeria Under-17 squad.

The 16-year-old striker, who joined the Club’s Academy in the summer from London side Lambeth Tigers, will join the Golden Eaglets squad in Turkey for an upcoming UEFA Assist U17 International Tournament.

The tournament, which takes place from Friday 20 September until Friday 27 September in Riva, Turkey, will involve eight national teams, with Nigeria placed in Group 1 alongside Turkey, Guatemala and Senegal.

The full fixture schedule for Nigeria is as follows:

Sunday 22 September 2019: Nigeria vs Turkey, 11am kick-off (local time)

Tuesday 24 September 2019: Nigeria vs Guatemala, 12.30pm kick-off (local time)

Thursday 26 September 2019; Nigeria vs Senegal, 2pm kick-off (local time)

Nigeria are using the tournament as part of their preparations for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, which takes place in Brazil during late October and November 2019.

Andre’s call-up is the latest from Town’s Under-17 group, with midfielder Ernaldo Krasniqi representing Albania and forward Robson Shipley playing for Wales.
