- Pedal for Pounds 9 starts on Tuesday 8 May 2018

This year's Pedal for Pounds 9 ride ‘The Last Goal Post’ starts on Tuesday 8 May 2018 and you can still sponsor the cyclists!

The 175 cyclists will travel from Avelin, France back to Huddersfield – via Belgium - on the ride that commemorates the lives of six Huddersfield Town players who were killed during service in WW1 on its 100th year anniversary.

The ride, itself, will begin on Wednesday 9 May 2018 and finish 282 miles later on Saturday 12 May 2018.

On route the cyclists will visit the memorials of Edward John Didymus, Leigh Richmond Roose, Charles Edward Randall, Sidney James, Larrett Roebuck and Ernest George Kenworthy (in that order).

The cyclists will raise money for the Keep It Up campaign, which generates funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and this season for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, Hollybank and the Town Foundation.

Around £1.75 million has been raised for the campaign since its inception in 2009.

If you want to donate some money to the ride, please visit www.justgiving.com/keepitupcampaign or text KIUC98 £5 (or any other amount) to 70070!

Huddersfield Town’s Club Ambassador Andy Booth commented:

“I would urge everyone not only to support this year’s Pedal for Pounds 9 cyclists but also the fantastic charities that they are raising money for.

“The Pedal for Pounds rides have made a huge impact on the local community since their inception in 2009 and this year, the Keep It Up campaign, supports four incredibly worthy causes.

“Please donate money to the ride by clicking the link above or by texting KIUC98 £5 to 70070 – your money makes a huge difference.”
