Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner spoke to the media on Friday morning ahead of his sides trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford in the next instalment of their Premier League campaign on Saturday afternoon.
David Wagner brings his side into the game on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea with the Head Coach explaining that the pressure of facing Watford carries the exact same pressures as playing against the Premier League Champions and any other Premier League side.
“It’s a Premier League game, it’s always the same. Even if you have the feeling before you meet an opponent that your chances to get a result are slightly higher than against other opponents. It’s always the same because you always play for three points.
“This was against Chelsea on Tuesday, the same three days before against Brighton and the same on Saturday against Watford. You have to prepare your players as good as you can for what’s in front of them.”
The Head Coach explained that his side are fully focused on the task at hand and whilst they are aware of some of the issues Watford face, explained that the only focus his side must have is on their own performance.
“It’s an opportunity. If it’s a great opportunity – I don’t know; it’s an opportunity like we’ve had 17 other opportunities so far this season. We work on the basis that we are independent from what happened to Watford three days ago.
“We have to be focused on ourselves. We know for sure that they aren’t in the best form when you look at the results they got, and we know they have some suspensions and injury problems. This isn’t our focus, we are focused on ourselves – we are aware that our away record isn’t the best so it’s time to change something.”
