Huddersfield Town Under-18s coach Leigh Bromby spoke to #HTTV after his side suffered a penalty shootout defeat to Category 1 Academy side Fulham at the John Smith’s Stadium on Friday evening.
Substitute Micah Obiero scored the goal for Town as Leigh Bromby’s side trailed for much of the game having gone a goal down around 15 seconds into the game. After playing 120 minutes of football with the scores ending 1-1, the ‘Young Terriers’ were defeated 5-4 in a penalty shootout.
Bromby spoke of his delight at his sides performance despite losing out as he said:
“I thought the lads were fantastic in terms of performance, I thought in the first-half we were a little bit poor in decision making. But the second half performance was everything we expected.
“Results aren’t that important at youth level, they get more important as you grow older. But we have some real talent and we are on the right lines”
“This cup is a great cup with a lot of history. They’re played at the stadiums and done the right way, there is a crowd here tonight and it’s a great experience for the players.
