CLUB SPONSOR HUDDERSFIELD LITERATURE FESTIVAL

28 March 2024

Tipi returns to Huddersfield with free Literature Festival events for all the family

- Town sponsor Huddersfield Literature Festival 2024
- Fun family event at Lawrence Batley Theatre
- Tipi open from Thursday 18 April until Sunday 28 April

Town are delighted to be sponsoring the Huddersfield Literature Festival this year, as we invite supporters down to the Lawrence Batley Theatre for a family day out this April!

Held in the Courtyard of the Lawrence Batley Theatre on Queen Street, the Huddersfield Literature Festival Tipi will include a range of activities, such as children’s book readings and Dinky Disco, as well as an appearance from The Tiger Who Came to Tea!

The Tipi will be open to the public - with a bar ran by Huddersfield Live - and will also be hosting 'open mic' nights, local author talks, craft workshops, and performances from local musicians!

Launching on Wednesday 17 April, the Tipi will be open from 5pm, and will consequently open daily until Sunday 28 April 2024. Open between 11am and 10pm - excluding Monday 22 April and Tuesday 23 April, when it will open from 5pm until 10pm - all are welcome to attend.

The multi-award-winning HuddLitFest begins on Thursday 11 April 2024, with a performance from Poet Laureate Simon Armitage and his band LYR.

Simon will be joined by broadcaster Gavin Esler, comedian Helen Lederer, explorer Ash Bhardwaj, and crime writers Mark Billingham and Abir Mukherjee.

Family activities will include eco-craft and crime-busting workshops, as well as the annual Stafflex Free Family Day at North Huddersfield Trust School.

Huddersfield Town Supporter Services Manager Rachel Taylor said:

“As a Club, we’re delighted to be supporting the Huddersfield Literature Festival, and are proud to be the first sponsors of their first ever Festival Tipi.

"We always want Huddersfield Town to support our local community, and this festival is a wonderful part of the cultural life of our town.

"Helping improve, grow and provide enrichment for the town are values as goals the Club and festival share, and we hope this year’s event is another resounding success!”
