Sorba Thomas has been voted Town’s Player of the Month for February 2024 by Blue & White Members!
It’s a third monthly win of the season for the Wales international, who has dominated this accolade this season alongside Michał Helik. Both players have three monthly award wins so far this season, with midfielder Jack Rudoni picking up the other.
It was a close-run vote this month, with defender Brodie Spencer coming very close to securing the accolade after another impressive month. There were also a good number of votes for Chelsea loanee Alex Matos and Rudoni.
Sorba’s barnstorming start to the month of February proved enough to persuade fans to vote for him.
He played a big role in the 4-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday, setting up the opener for Matty Pearson with an expertly taken corner before scoring himself to make it three, latching onto Jonathan Hogg’s superbly executed early free kick and finishing past the goalkeeper.
He repeated that performance in the next game, our 5-3 defeat at promotion-chasing Southampton. His first ever away goal in Town colours opened the scoring – a half volley that he smashed past the goalkeeper – and he soon got his ninth league assist of the season in pulling the ball back for David Kasumu to make it two.
Sorba played well again in our 1-0 home win over Sunderland as well as the last-ditch defeat at the hands of Hull City.
Alison McCarthy from Brighouse will meet Sorba ahead of Saturday’s game against Leeds United to present him with his award alongside junior member Molly Barnes, also from Brighouse, with both receiving a commemorative photograph.
All the money generated from the £2-a-week that Blue and White Members pay goes straight to the Huddersfield Town Academy.
