ONDO RECEIVES EQUATORIAL GUINEA CALL-UP

13 June 2023

Huddersfield Town B Team forward called-up to Equatorial Guinea

- Charles Ondo receives international call-up
- Young Terrier to join Equatorial Guinea national team
- Fifth round of the African cup of Nations qualifiers

With the 2024 Ivory Coast African Cup of Nations pending, Charles Ondo has received his second international call-up to the Equatorial Guinea’s national team.

Hoping to make his international debut, Ondo will be joining Juan Micha’s squad for the upcoming fifth round of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, as they play their second leg at home against Tunisia on Saturday 17 June at 4pm.

This second leg will take place at the Stadium of Malabo in the capital of Equatorial Guinea, with the first leg finishing 4-0 to Tunisia as they sit top of the Group J.

Equatorial Guinea sit second in Group J, with their final game of the qualifying stages against Libya set to take place in September but they have won three of their four games played so far.

Ondo spent the 2022/23 season part of Jon Worthington’s B Team and went on loan in January to Northern Irish side Waterford, however, before Christmas, Ondo made his debut and two substitute appearances as part of Town’s first team.

Making his international debut will be great for his development and experience – keep an eye out on the 17 June and see if our Young Terrier appears for his national team.
