We are delighted to confirm that U19 goalkeeper Francis Hurl has today agreed to his first professional contract with the Club, signing with Town until at least 2026!
Having joined Town as a 16-year-old in the summer of 2022 from Crystal Palace after impressing on trial, the shot-stopper initially completed a two-year scholarship as he progressed through our U17 and U19 groups.
Training with the First Team on a semi-regular basis, as well as assisting in warm-ups ahead of First Team fixtures, Hurl has improved drastically since first joining, working hard both on and off the field with the coaching and performance staff alike.
Although still technically a member of our U19 group, Francis has stepped up to B Team level this season, making appearances in the Premier League Cup for the Terriers, as well as keeping goal for Town in the FA Youth Cup at the John Smith’s Stadium.

“First and foremost, I’d like to congratulate Francis on earning this first professional deal. It’s an important step in all young careers, and it’s a moment he deserves as a result of hard work.
“His attitude and application are first class for an 18-year-old, and he’ll need to keep that same concentration and dedication to continue improving within our U19s and B Team.
“Taking exposure to the First Team within his stride, Francis is highly thought of throughout the Club, and we are delighted to keep him with us until at least 2026 during a really important period within his development.”
