The travelling support of nearly 2,000 Town fans saw a special moment at Bloomfield Road tonight – a Jonathan Hogg away goal!

The Town skipper put the icing on the cake on a great evening for the men in blue and white, volleying home the final goal in a 3-0 win.

That was his first competitive goal on the road for Town - his fourth in total – and he dedicated it to the magnificent travelling support when speaking to HTTV post-match.

“It doesn’t happen too often! Fantastic it was in front of the fans. They’ve seen me for so many years, and they haven’t seen many of them. It’s one for the scrapbook,” Jonathan explained.

The game was all level at the interval after a very even opening 45 minutes, but Josh Koroma’s early goal in the second half set Town away.

“The first half was really difficult,” Hoggy admitted. “We knew they would put on a high press. On the flip side, we scored first last weekend and lost. We had to switch on, we got the second and the third killed it.

“We’ve got some real men this year – some lads who aren’t shy to really pull their sleeves up and have a scrap. When you come to places like this, you have to do that. You can’t just have the quality – you need to have the fight, and we showed that tonight.”

Hoggy reserved his final words for the Town faithful:

“Unbelievable. Our fans are top class everywhere you go, and I’m just glad we can give them something to cheer about. They even got lucky and saw a Hoggy special tonight!”
