Huddersfield Town’s Sorba Thomas says while the players know the first 45 minutes against Fleetwood Town weren’t good enough, the team is ready for the start of the competitive season.
The midfielder was the only player to play the full 90 minutes of Town’s final pre-season friendly, and put himself at the centre of the action on plenty of occasions.
Speaking to #HTTV after the game, Thomas discussed how he found the game.
“Everyone knows that the first half wasn’t good enough.
“The boys playing on the pitch, the guys on the bench, even the fans will know. We weren’t good enough, there was no intensity.
“We allowed them to play their game. In the second half I think we played with no fear, we literally just thought ‘Go for it and get back in the game’.
“The Head Coach had some words to say at half time and I feel like those words energised the whole squad.”
The midfielder went on to explain that although the squad would like to win every pre-season game, they know that results aren’t the most important thing that they should be taking from them.
“At the start of this pre-season we started to see the fans back in action and you can see that they’re loud, they’re massive to us.
“We missed them all last season when we were playing.
“I feel like the results aren’t everything in pre-season, but of course we want to win every game and go into the new season on a high.
“I felt like the performance in the second half was so much better, we sort of played with a bit of freedom and like we had something to prove, and I feel like as a team we’ll feel very confident going into Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.”
