Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán gave his reaction to the Terriers’ 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough in the Sky Bet Championship.

Town had gone ahead early on through an Isaac Mbenza free-kick before two goals for the hosts in the final 15 minutes of the first half turned the game around and was enough to secure the three points for the hosts despite Town’s efforts half-time.

Carlos reviewed the game when speaking to the media in his post-match press conference at the Riverside Stadium.

“In the first minutes of the game, we started well and scored the goal,” he said.

“After the goal we couldn’t show what we did in the first minutes.

“In the first half, we didn’t do enough. They won a lot of second balls, played in our half and I think we didn’t find the way to balance the game.

“The reaction of the team was the reaction I was looking for in the second half.

“We created more problems and more chances, enough as a minimum to balance the game, but unfortunately we couldn’t.”

During the press conference, Carlos also gave an update on Town’s goalscorer who was forced off with an injury shortly after scoring his fifth goal of the campaign, at the Riverside.

“From Christmas to now, he started to feel something in the achilles. He started to feel something in the abdominal area this week.

“We tried to manage the pain but he couldn’t so we made the change. It’s a problem he’s had in the last two weeks.

“We’ll see how he is in the next days.”
