Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley believes the remaining Sky Bet Championship games are the 12 most important games of his side’s footballing lives.

The Terriers are at home on Tuesday night, this time to Bristol City in the Sky Bet Championship and are deep in a relegation fight.

When speaking to the press ahead of the game, he gave his thoughts on the Robins and explained the team has to look at themselves and have to try and find ways to get better.

“They have a very good way they can play different ways.

“Lee Johnson is an intelligent, pragmatic manager and sets his teams up differently depending on the opponent.

“I thought they were light years ahead of us when we played them earlier in the season; that’s just me being honest.

“We feel we have made big steps since then. It hasn’t always shown in terms of the win, draw, lose column but we know where we are in terms of the process and the performance and we know we’ve made big steps. We’re looking forward to seeing the fruits of that progress tomorrow night.”

As this is the second game in a week for the Terriers, Danny Cowley explained how he could make changes to his starting line-up.

“We have to try and manage each player individually to get the best out of him and help the team in the best possible way and that’s our job.

“We have to make tough decisions, sometimes you have to make decisions that you don’t want to make, sometimes you have to make decisions which you know you are going to cop a lot of criticism for, but ultimately we have to be professional and we have to try and make the right decisions.

“I do think that we have to look at the group and try and manage the group accordingly and you look at form and you look at fitness and try to look at the partnership and the relationships and you consider the opponent that you’re playing as well.

“The challenge for us is trying to select the right team.”

The Cowleys are not shying away from the fact the end of the season is near, admitting they have a big test on their hands to avoid relegation.

“We know that the position we’re in now with 12 games to go is a big test, and a real challenge, and I am actually really excited about it.

“I have confidence in us and as a group of players and footballing staff and more importantly the confidence as us as human beings.”

Town’s manager explained how his team need the support of the fans going into the next two games at home.

“I think it’s really tough being a Huddersfield Town supporter and they’ve not had it easy.

“We understand that and we know that it is tough for them. We deserve the criticism we got because I don’t think we’ve performed at the consistent standards that this club and the supporters deserve.

“We really want their support even if we don’t deserve it all the time, we really want it and really need it.”
