Young Terriers in pre-season action

- Town Academy face Evo-Stik Premier League side Mickleover
- Aaron Rowe on target for Town
- Game ends in a 2-1 defeat for the Young Terriers

Huddersfield Town’s U19 side faced Evo-Stik Premier League side Mickleover Sports in a pre-season friendly, with all three goals coming inside the opening quarter of an hour as the game ended in a 2-1 defeat for Mark Hudson’s side.

Mark Hudson was able to welcome back Ryan Schofield for his first appearance of the season after recovering from an elbow injury sustained towards the end of last season.

It wasn’t the start that the Young Terriers had in mind in the game going a goal down inside the opening minute. Nathan Jarman got on the end of a well worked corner to power the opener into the bottom corner.

The action continued inside the opening 10 minutes as Aaron Rowe drew the Young Terriers level in the sixth minute. Rowe collected the ball on the left and cut inside onto his favoured right foot to power in the equaliser.

Mickleover then put themselves back in front in the minutes as opening scorer Jarman was brought down in the box by a Town defender. Jarman got up and fired in the spot kick to draw his side level with both his and his sides second goal of the game.

Olly Dyson & Ben Jackson had half chances to score at later points in the game as the score remained and the game ended in a 2-1 defeat.

Town’s Academy side returns to action next Wednesday travelling across the Welsh border to face Conwy Borough for a 7.45pm kick-off.
