Chris Löwe is raring to go as the new Premier League season approaches, with Town’s pre-season ending with the friendly against RB Leipzig on Friday.

The German left back has impressed during pre-season, most recently setting up Steve Mounié’s winning goal against Bologna on Tuesday evening, and is looking forward to the first game of the new campaign against Chelsea on 11 August.

“It was a long summer, to be honest. We’ve never had a rest like this and it was nice to be back home with family and friends, but now it’s also nice to be back,” Chris told #HTTV in Austria on Thursday.

“We’re feeling good. We’ve done a lot of hard work to get the fitness level back and we’ve got the new players involved. I think we’ve done a good job so far.”

It feels like Town’s summer recruits have been around for years; something that the 29-year-old credits the Club’s hierarchy for.

“I think it’s really easy to settle into our group, but I think the most important thing is that the Head Coach and the Chairman don’t only look for good footballers, but also at the character. You must be a good footballer, of course, but in our group I think the character is more important.”

Having played a big part in the dramatic games at Manchester City and Chelsea at the end of last season, Chris is under no illusion on what the aim is for 2018/19.

“In the end, the biggest aim for us is to secure another season in the Premier League. We are still the underdog, but for sure we will try everything to do it again. We will leave everything we have on the grass.”

The former Kaiserslautern defender believes that Friday’s final friendly against ‘Die Roten Bullen’ can help to put the final touches on Town’s preparations.

“It will be a tough test tomorrow, but that is what we need. We face Chelsea next week and they will be a better side than Leipzig tomorrow, so it’ll be good to see where we are now. We’ll try and get another good result and then we get ready for Chelsea.”
