Town visits Breakfast Club and Forget Me Not

- Four Huddersfield Town players visit Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice
Huddersfield Town paid visits to The Town Foundation Breakfast Club at Christchurch Academy and then later that day to the Club’s latest Charity Partner, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.
Chairman Dean Hoyle and members of the Huddersfield Town Board were joined by players, staff and club partners as they paid a visit to one of The Town Foundation’s 24 Breakfast Clubs in the local area.
First Team players Jonas Lössl and Chris Löwe were up bright and early to pay local children a visit at the Town Foundation’s Breakfast Club at Christchurch Academy.
The Breakfast Club is an initiative pioneered by Club Chairman Dean Hoyle that provides a healthy and nutritious breakfast to over 1000 children across twenty-four schools each day in the local area.
Christchurch Academy was the first school to get involved in the initiative when it served up its first breakfast over five years ago, with The Breakfast Club’s having gone on to serve over 750,000 breakfasts in total.
Members of the press also came along to the event including the BBC who created pieces that will appear on this Saturday’s Football Focus and also on the Sunday morning showing of Match of the Day in the coming weeks.
Michala Uttley, Deputy Headteacher at Christchurch Academy commented:
“It has supported our rise in punctuality and attendance with children entering school early to a warm and friendly, family atmosphere, ready to start a day of learning.
“It has also supported our working parents in enabling them to have a safe place for their children to attend while they go out to work, knowing their children are being well looked after first thing in the morning.”

Later that day Club Ambassador Andy Booth along with First-Team players Tommy Smith, Scott Malone, Dean Whitehead and Collin Quaner paid a visit to the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.
The players were given a guided tour of the complex looking at some the great facilities they possess as well as meeting some of the families, staff and children.
The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice provides care and support to children with life shortening conditions and their families across West Yorkshire. The state-of-the-art children’s hospice building in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, is the heart of all the services and is designed to be a real home from home for families.
Huddersfield Town Club Captain Tommy Smith commented:
“It’s been a real eye-opener for myself and the other lads who came today. The amount of effort, work and time the people who put in here is nothing short of amazing.
“There is a lot more to life than football, when you visit these types of places and see some of the kids with their parents who are coping with this, it does make you realise.
“All credit to the hospice, they make it as comfortable and easy for these families as they possibly can and some of the facilities they have are nothing short of amazing.”
