Huddersfield Town’s Under-18 side met defeat against category one Academy side Middlesbrough in the north east on Saturday morning in its latest pre-season friendly ahead of the 2015/16 Professional Development League 2 season.

Second year scholar Jack Boyle, an attack-minded midfielder, netted Town’s only goal of the game in the defeat to the clinical hosts

A number of the young Terriers got more minutes under their belts, with Lead Professional Development Coach Tony Carss playing a different formation in each half; a 4-4-2 with a diamond in midfield and then a 3-6-1 shape for the second 45.

With Oldham Athletic cancelling the midweek friendly against Town’s Under-18s, the side is now back in action on Saturday when Sunderland visits PPG Canalside in a noon kick-off.

Town’s team (4-4-2 diamond):
Tadhg Ryan; Harry Clibbens (Luca Colville, 70), Dylan Cogill, Jordan Williams, Jacob Hanson; Jamie Spencer, Oliver Dyson (Cedwyn Scott, 60), Adam Porritt (Sam Gibson, 80), Jack Boyle; Adam Edgar (trialist) (Lewis O’Brien, 46), Rekeil Pyke
