VAUGHAN TO LEAD TERRIERS

22 November 2013

Robins appoints striker as Captain

Mark Robins has confirmed that James Vaughan will lead the Terriers in the absence of injured Club Captain Peter Clarke.

Starting at Hillsborough this Saturday, Town’s top scorer will Captain the team during Clarke’s recovery from a knee injury sustained against Birmingham City (click HERE for more information regarding the defender’s medial knee ligament injury).

11 goal Vaughan has missed Town’s last three games through suspension and returns in time to lead out his teammates when the Terriers take on Sheffield Wednesday live on Sky Sports, this Saturday at 12.15pm.

Mark Robins told htafc.com

“James is one of the leaders in the dressing room and on the pitch. There were one or two candidates, but he is the stand out man for the job. He will take the responsibility on his shoulders and will be mature with it. Being the Captain will only enhance his performance, which we have already seen in training since he took on the job. He will lead by example and I have no doubt will inspire and encourage everyone.”

Vaughan added: “It is very nice to have the honour and to have been handed the Captaincy by the Manager. It will be a proud moment when I lead the lads out for the first time at Hillsborough on Saturday.”
