CARR JOINS FLEETWOOD ON LOAN

19 November 2013

Under-21 striker moves to League Two side

Huddersfield Town striker Daniel Carr has today joined Sky Bet League Two club Fleetwood Town on a youth loan until 21 December 2013 inclusive.

The 19 year-old, who joined the Terriers from non-league Dulwich Hamlet in the summer, has netted 10 goals in just eight games for Town’s table-topping Under-21 side so far this season.

He started his first senior game for Huddersfield Town in the Capital One Cup game at Hull City on 24 September and has subsequently appeared as a second-half substitute in each of the Club’s last two League games.

Daniel now moves to Fleetwood Town for a month. Managed by former Preston North End player Graham Alexander, The Cod Army currently sit fourth in the League Two table having gained 28 points from their first 16 games.

Carr is expected to go straight into their squad to face Mansfield Town at Highbury Stadium on Saturday.

Huddersfield Town Manager Mark Robins commented:

“Daniel has been impressive for our Development Squad and we are excited to see how he handles the step up in a team near the top of a tough division. We have been very happy with his transition from the non-league ranks to our group

“It is now an opportunity for Daniel to get a real taste of regular first team football that will be far different from what he has experienced in the Under-21 team so far this season.

“We have a number of options in attack again with the return of James Vaughan (suspension), Martin Paterson (injury) and Cristian Lopez (loan spell) and believe that it is now the right time to send Daniel on loan for a short period.”
