UPDATE: OLLIE TURTON SUFFERS INJURY SETBACK

24 January 2024

Huddersfield Town defender suffers setback in return from ruptured anterior cruciate ligament

- Ollie Turton suffers setback in return from injury
- Defender undergoes further knee surgery
- Comments from Huddersfield Town Manager Darren Moore

Having played 45 minutes for the Huddersfield Town B Team in the Premier League Cup on Friday 19 January, defender Ollie Turton has unfortunately been dealt a setback in his return from serious injury.

Ruled out for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament against Wigan Athletic, the defender worked tirelessly to return to fitness, playing his first scheduled competitive minutes after an extended period back in First Team training before making an appearance in the Premier League Cup for our B Team.

Suffering a complication with his knee cartilage during that B Team appearance - that is separate to his original injury - Turton has undergone knee meniscus surgery that will again keep him sidelined for a number of months.

Hugely unfortunate news, Ollie has the full backing and support of all at the Club, with the defender expected to make a full and complete recovery.

Huddersfield Town Manager Darren Moore commented:

“First and foremost, I’m absolutely gutted for Ollie - coming back from long term injury is hard, and suffering a setback list this is never easy. We all saw first hand just how much work he was putting in to regain fitness, as we were looking forward to having him rejoin our group.

“Having spoken to him after his surgery, he knows he has our full support and backing to take the time he needs to come back at full strength. Our medical and performance staff will work closely with him again to put together a programme that will allow him to return when the time is right.

“Ollie is such a popular figure in the dressing room, a culture setter and true professional, so it weakens us both on and off the field to not have him alongside us. While these first few days will be difficult for him, we know his work ethic will see him rehabilitate to the best of his ability again, and return even stronger when possible.”

See you back out there soon and come back stronger, Turts!
