Having watched his side dismantle local team Liskeard Athletic 13-1 on Saturday afternoon, Town Manager Neil Warnock had a simple two-word summary for his team’s week of work in Cornwall and Devon:

“Very good,” he told HTTV after the final whistle.

“We’ve only had one disappointment – that Hoggy picked up a little injury in training – but other than that, the games have been what we needed. We needed some yardage. We’ve trained hard in the mornings of the games so we were a little bit tired as well, but we got through without any more injuries.

“The fans turned up down here, with a lot of Huddersfield Town fans who live in this area. It’s nice to be able to play down in Cornwall because it does get neglected a little bit, so I like bringing teams down here.

“It’s amazing, in the week that we do, how many little things I pick up on players – good things and bad things. It helps me decide what I want to do and where I want to go, who I want with me and who I don’t. You don’t always pick them up on the training ground, so it’s nice to see them relaxing. I’ve got my eyes and ears everywhere!

“We haven’t got any bad pros really; they’re all good lads. The senior pros are excellent.

“Tom Lees hasn’t been down because he wanted to go on the Alter-G machine all week, so he should be OK when we get back, but people like him, Helik and Matty P are great professionals. Wardy is as well, so we have a nucleus. We’ve also got some likeable rogues like Koroma and Sorba – they know I’ve seen it all before!

“We talk about not having any signings, but in my eyes we’ve got three new ones. We’ve got the best ‘keeper in the league (Lee Nicholls), we’ve got Yuta (Nakayama) coming back and Sorba. Now we have to try and bring others in.”
