Town Manager Neil Warnock once again met with the local press in his latest press conference as he looked ahead to our trip to West Brom in the Sky Bet Championship.

Held at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex, the Manager discussed the availability of the squad and the incoming of midfielder Ben Wiles and what he can bring to the side.

Warnock also spoke about the opposition and how they will be looking to get in front early on, whilst also remaining confident in his side with the desire to get three points before the international break.

In his press conference, Warnock said:

“I think we’re creating enough chances; I just think we’re not being clinical enough.

“It’s not that end of the pitch that is bothering me if I’m being honest, it’s the goals we’re conceding.

“I think goalkeepers are probably the most critical of their own performance of anyone in the team, it’s a difficult position, any mistake they make usually ends in a goal conceded.

“We haven’t had any gifts like we’ve given other teams, but I hope we change that.

“The criticism of Danny Ward is unfair; the lad is playing on his own and isn’t seeing much of the ball - it’s a thankless task.

“We’re hoping that Ben Wiles is capable of giving us that extra pass, and Wardy just needs one goal to get going.

“I don’t think anyone is shirking their responsibilities or not giving their all, Wardy included.

“I’ve always liked Ben Wiles, he’s available for the weekend. It’s great to think about him and Jack Rudoni playing together, the energy that will be there for us.

“It’s been unlucky with David Kasumu getting injured, he was in our plans in midfield so Ben has arrived at a good time.

“Tom Lees too, he’s important for us as well. It’s bad timing to have lost those two when we did at the start of the year.

“West Brom are a good side, but we want to give them a game. We know that Carlos will want to be foot front, but we can create problems and make our own chances.

“We’re confident in ourselves and want to get a good result before the international break.

“I’ve been delighted with the response of the fans - they’ve recognised that we’re working our socks off, the players, staff, Ronnie and myself.

“They can forgive you certain things when you give your all. We’d all obviously want more points, but it will come.”
