Levi Colwill described his 19th birthday as his best yet after returning from injury to score in today’s 2-0 Sky Bet Championship win at Birmingham City!

The 19-year-old was excellent at the back to keep the Blues at bay in his first game since early January and cut a very happy figure after the full-time whistle with HTTV.

“I think that’s the best birthday I’ve ever had! Three points, and I’ll take the goal too!” Levi beamed.

“It’s 100% mine – it had better be mine!” he said on the first goal, which did hit Birmingham’s Gary Gardener before going in. “It came off my chest and it was going in either way, so I can take it. I had Birmingham supporters trying to give me stick, so I had to give them a little wave.”

On his return, Levi was quick to thank Head Coach Carlos Corberán for showing faith in him.

“It’s the best feeling ever. It’s been tough to be out for so long – it was over 50 days, and it’s been the toughest experience I’ve had. Now to be back around the team – the family – it’s the best feeling ever.

“I’ve got to thank (Carlos) because it was a big decision. When I’ve spoken to the coaches I told them that if I was them, I wouldn’t put me straight back in, so he’s shown a lot of trust in me and all I can do is thank him.

“Even myself, I was a bit nervous coming into it. We’ve won so many games and I didn’t want to be the one to come in and mess it up. I came in, I got the goal and we got three points, so it’s good.”

Colwill conducted his interview in front of the celebrating travelling faithful and praised the support of Town fans – but also assured them that the squad isn’t getting carried away.

“I think you can hear it! The fans, the team – everyone is together. Everyone is going for the same goal, and it’s the best feeling. It makes you feel at home, even when you’re away.

“We’ve got loads of confidence but at the same time, we know it can all end in one game. In every game, we must play like it’s the biggest one so far. We’ve done that over 17 games and now we want to keep it up – then who knows come the end of the season?”
