Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán was in a pleased mood having seen his side secure a top six finish in the Sky Bet Championship.

Speaking about his emotions following the result, Carlos admitted that he was happy, and that his own mood reflected that of the Town supporters.

“I’m very happy, I’m exactly the same and have the same feeling as the supporters.

“For me it was an important step, to finish the season with a guaranteed Play-Off position.

“When you see that, it’s a positive reward for every single player of the team, for this squad and for our fans to enjoy a positive season, because I know how difficult and how tough the previous three seasons have been.

“For us to be able to give them something is a positive.”

Discussing the match itself in more detail, the Head Coach admitted that Barnsley were always looked at as a difficult opponent, but was pleased with his side performed in the face of that.

“I spoke to the players and told them that the game would be tough.

“They won, because it’s the result that they wanted to achieve, and although it’s true that Barnsley have been relegated today, it’s a squad where many of the players played in the Play-Offs last year.

“Knowing that the only possible result for them was to win the game because they were fighting to survive, and at the same time analysing some of the results they’ve had against Fulham, Stoke City, Swansea and Middlesbrough, it helped us create the right mindset for the game.

“For me we were dominant in the first half, we were playing excellent football.

“In the second half at the beginning too, we had some good chances to create a better result, and at the end of the game we were defending one result.

“Unfortunately the scored a goal, but the team was very focussed to defend an important result for us.”
