Huddersfield Town Under-17s defender Ajay Weston is relishing what he’s learnt since joining Town’s Academy.
Ajay joined Huddersfield Town from Cheltenham Town as part of the Academy’s summer cohort ahead of the 2021/22 season.
The 16-year-old commented on how different the two clubs are.
“The main thing I noticed straight away is the food.
“At Cheltenham you never really had food supplied to you like you do here – it’s really nice!
“The coaches here have a different style of playing, at Cheltenham it was more of a route one sort of team, whereas Huddersfield are looking to play proper football which I really like.”
Since his arrival, the defender has had plenty of new information to take on board, both on and off the pitch.
“I’ve learnt a lot; this is probably the most I’ve ever learnt in a football sense.
“It’s been incredible, both without the ball and with the ball.
“It’s a whole new style of football and I’m looking to improve every day and just carrying on with it.”
Weston went on to discuss what his individual focus has been in training.
“I’ve been working on my heading and clearing.
“I’m not the tallest of players, so that’s the main thing I want to work on, so that I can be better and more consistent.”
The youngster also took the time to explain his aims and ambitions for the 2021/22 season.
“I want to be involved in some of the Under-19s games.
“I want to start pushing forward and make the coaches know what I’m about.
“I also want to score, assist, get plenty of goals and just help the team out and get some wins.”
Ajay and his teammates are back in action on Saturday 11 September 2021 when they travel to face Harrogate Town; 11am kick-off.
