Huddersfield Town Under-17s midfielder Michael Stone is seeing technical improvements thanks to his training sessions both on the pitch and in the gym.

The youngster commented on how much his technical ability has improved since his arrival at the Club.

“I’ve learnt loads about my timing and movements.

“I’ve had a lot of focus on fixing the man, winning the ball back and receiving the ball behind the player, which has really helped me in midfield a lot.

“I’ve also been practicing receiving the ball and can now play forward better which helps me to eliminate my opponents.”

Michael joined Huddersfield Town from Stoke City in August 2020 to link up with the Academy’s Under-17 side.

“I prefer Huddersfield a lot. When I walked through the door and had my first trial, I knew it was a good Club. I really enjoyed that first session.

“I’ve been getting a lot of game time which I didn’t really have towards the end of Stoke.

“I’m also getting a lot more one-to-one training in terms of the individual sessions and I think they’re really benefitting me in terms of splitting up with the units and learning more about my position.

“I’m definitely seeing improvements in the gym and that’s really helped me gain pace and power on the pitch because I’m quite small!”

The midfielder was also quick to highlight the personal improvements he’s seen in his game.

“Technically I have a much better understanding of the game and the timing of my movements.

“The technical sessions have helped me become able to receive the ball in tighter areas and the gym has helped me become stronger.”

Michael and his Under-17 teammates host Lincoln City behind-closed-doors at Canalside on Tuesday 12 January 2021; kick-off 11am.
