“I’m very excited” said Huddersfield Town’s new striker Yaya Sanogo after joining the Club.

The 6ft 3’ forward signed for the Terriers as a free agent on a contract running until the end of the 2020/21 season, having departed French top-flight side Toulouse at the end of the last campaign.

In his first interview with the Club, he explained how hard he’s been working so he can hit the ground running.

“I’m very excited to sign at Huddersfield Town. I’m happy because it’ll be a good challenge for me. It’ll be good for me and the Club.

“I didn’t play for a long time because of Coronavirus. I trained with AJ Auxerre in France, for two months, so I think I’m fit to play quickly.

“It was hard this period. Other players were playing in the competition and I wasn’t. You need to be strong in the head. I stayed strong in my head because my friends and family helped me. I am ready for this challenge.

“I think I’m ready in my head. When you don’t play for a long time you need to come back step by step, but I think I’m ready.”

Before joining the Terriers, the Frenchman admitted that he spoke to Naby Sarr ahead of the move.

“I’ve known Naby since I was 16 years old; he’s a good friend. We won the World Cup together.

“Before I signed for Huddersfield Town, I called him, and he told me it was a great club and they were looking for a striker.

“He said it was a great opportunity for me and the Club. Naby is a good friend so it was good to hear this from him.”
