LUKE DALEY SIGNS PROFESSIONAL TERMS WITH TOWN!

7 October 2020

17-year-old commits future to the Club until 2022

- Luke Daley signs a professional contract at Huddersfield Town
- 17-year-old agrees a deal running until the summer of 2022
- Club has an option on a further year’s extension

Huddersfield Town Academy player Luke Daley has signed a professional contract running until the summer of 2022!

The Club also has the option of a further year’s extension on the 17-year-old’s deal.

An attack-minded left back, Luke joined the Young Terriers from the Port Vale Academy in the summer of 2019, initially agreeing a two-year scholarship.

A Liverpudlian, he was spotted by Town’s Academy Manager Emyr Humphreys playing for Cheshire Schools against Shrewsbury Town in the summer of 2018, at which point he was closely scrutinised in another two games for the Valiants.

Luke was a virtual ever-present for the Under-17 side in his debut campaign last season, scoring once in 28 appearances. He also broke into the EDT and Under-19 sides, netting another goal in 12 games.

Unfortunately, he’s only managed one pre-season start in 2020/21 due to injury, but he’s due back on the grass soon!

Huddersfield Town’s Academy Manager Emyr Humphreys commented:

“Luke totally deserves to sign his first professional contract with Huddersfield Town.

“He has impressed and really developed as a footballer over the last 12 months and that’s down to his diligent nature and determination to succeed.

“He ticks all of the boxes that we look for in our young footballers and now he has to keep focused on improving. We are really excited to see how he develops.”
