Schofield made 285 appearances during his 10-year spell at the Club and admitted that it has been an emotional return to Town where he enjoyed much success.

"It's back to where it all began really for me. I signed in 1998 so I've been on a bit of a journey since I left this Club and it’s been quite emotional coming back," he said.

"I’ve got a lot of good memories and there’s still some good people here who I met from day one, so I just want to get my head down now, get cracking, and get to work.

"I think I can add value to this group in terms of the intensity which they play at as I'm always trying to drive the intensity. I like to coach concepts and position specifics to individuals to really increase the performances of individual players.

"I'm here to try and help get these players football careers and to get them into the First Team at Huddersfield Town, so their development, growth and improvements as footballers are at the forefront of my mind.

"I've got lots of ideas to implement and work on with Brombs (Leigh Bromby). All the work is done on the training field and the results come on the pitch. I'm really looking forward to getting started."

Just after the win over Tranmere, the next round of the Central League Cup was drawn. The Young Terriers will travel to Wigan Athletic in the Northern Area Semi-Final of the Central League Cup!

The date for the fixture will be confirmed in due course.
