Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley believes he has found a strategy of playing away from home that fits his players.

The Terriers are on their travels again this weekend, this time travelling to Swansea City in the Sky Bet Championship.

When speaking to the press ahead of the game, he gave his thoughts on the Swans and explained how hard they’ve been working on setting their strategy for away performances.

“Swansea are a possession-based team and one of the slickest teams in the division in terms of the way they build and the work they do in possession.

“They can play through you very quickly and can get a real rhythm and control in games to ask a lot of questions of you with the ball. We are looking forward to that test.

“They’re very well coached and when they are well coached you can see clear patterns; it’s up to us to stop that and affect them when we have the ball. We have to ask questions of them when we are in possession.

“We are working towards a consistency away from home; it’s difficult to accumulate points in the Championship away from home, but we are working towards a consistent performance on our travels. We feel like we’ve got a strategy that works for this group.”

A boost for the Cowleys is the return to training for Karlan Grant and Alex Pritchard. The pair have been back in training ahead of Saturday’s game.

“We’ve had everyone on the grass, but Tommy Elphick, which has been a real positive and definitely the best in terms of the health of the squad. We’ve worked hard to get to this point.

“It’s given a real competition for places and selection, which is very positive.

“Karlan Grant has been on the grass. We are hopeful he will be available come Saturday.

“Alex Pritchard has trained; he’s trained all last week and this week. He is available for selection, which is a massive plus. He’s worked hard and is desperate to get back. His attitude and work ethic have been excellent.

“Kamil Grabara is going through the concussion protocol, which is a day-by-day process. Due to the nature of the contact we will look to give him a game before he’s available for First Team selection. That’s the first time he’s had a big head collision, so a game prior to be available would be a right thing to do in terms of the stepping stones.”

Town’s fit squad will come into full force over the next three games due to the busy Sky Bet Championship fixture schedule.

Town’s Manager explained how he needs to use the squad to get the right balance between fitness, freshness and continuity.

“Three games in seven days is challenging; we’ve got the Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday. We will look to utilise the squad and the good thing now is that we have competition for places.

“Prior to the window we didn’t have the ability to rotate, so that made three game weeks really challenging.

“Our final performance of our last three game week against Derby was a good one, so that bodes well for the week we have ahead of us.”
