U19S MAKE POSITIVE PROGRESS AHEAD OF HOSTING ABERDEEN

Young Terriers have improved their results and performances since they last faced the Dons

- Under-19s take on Aberdeen on Saturday 16 November 2019

- Young Terriers have made positive progress since they last met in September

Huddersfield Town’s Under-19s side have seen an improvement in their results and performances since strengthening their team.

As games for Town’s youngsters continue to come thick and fast, they’ve brought positive results and performances with them.

Huddersfield Town’s Academy Manager Leigh Bromby commented on what’s changed for the Under-19s since their previous game against Aberdeen in September.

“That first test against Aberdeen was a tough test because the players had to travel a long way beforehand, which is part of their learning as well because it’s something that they’re going to have to do with the First Team.

“I thought with the struggle with the travel up there we looked like we lacked a little bit of energy when we played them last time, but I think since that game we’ve had a lot of positives, a lot of positive results and performances, and the strength of the team’s improved.

“I think with Danny and Nicky coming in they’ve involved a lot of the fringe First Team players such as Josh Koroma and Reece Brown which really helps the young players.

“Having them around has helped strengthen our team, so I think depending on the personnel on Saturday I’d expect us to perform better than what we did when we last played against Aberdeen.”

Bromby also spoke about instilling a winning mentality into the Academy players.

“We still want the players to learn and to develop them, but we want to instil that fight.

“Against Wigan they showed that, it was outstanding the competitiveness of the game, the want to win was there to see and the battle for each other.

“We call it Terrier Spirit and that was evident in that game, so that’s something that we always try to work on.

“This game against Aberdeen is an EDT performance game –a game that we structure and work on to try and win, so we try and emulate the First Team.

“We want to win the game, so we prepare and give them that experience like it would be for the First Team, and part of our job as Coaches is to create that and create that pressure for the players.

“That’s why we’ve organised these games, because the teams are good and the level’s good and we want to approach them a bit differently.

“It is a huge thing and to become a First Team player that’s what you need, so we’ve got to develop that in our players as well – that fight to win.”

The game will kick-off at noon at PPG Canalside on Saturday 16 November 2019 and Huddersfield Town supporters can watch the Under-19s in action for FREE!

Please note there's no parking available at PPG Canalside!
