Young forward moves out for the season

- Huddersfield Town Academy’s Rekeil Pyke returns to Rochdale on loan
- Young striker’s second spell at Spotland
- Comments from Academy Manager Leigh Bromby

Huddersfield Town striker Rekeil Pyke has returned to Sky Bet League 1 side Rochdale for the 2019/20 season.

The 21-year-old joined the Club on a half-season loan in January 2019 but was restricted to just six appearances due to a hamstring injury suffered in a game against AFC Wimbledon on 21 February.

He now re-joins the Club under the stewardship of manager Brian Barry-Murphy ahead of the new Sky Bet League 1 season.

This loan spell represents the latest chance for Rekeil to gain further experience of senior football, following on from a successful spell at Vanarama National League side Wrexham in the first half of last season.

He’s also previously experienced time on loan at Colchester United and Port Vale.

Huddersfield Town Academy Manager Leigh Bromby explained:

“Part of our strategy as an Academy is to create loan opportunities for our young players, because we believe that the experience of senior football will bring our players closer to impacting our First Team.

“We had a lot of interest in Rekeil as he possesses all the attributes to be a top player and this move to Rochdale is the correct one for him.”
