Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner believes the competition for places in his squad is the best its been all season as his side prepares for this weekend’s match against Stoke City.

David Wagner explained to the media that he has 22 players back in training and that when Martin Cranie returns onto the grass on Sunday he will have a full squad competing for a place in the squad.

He went into detail about the return of Philip Billing and Michael Hefele, whilst also revealing to the press that Alex Pritchard is in contention for a squad and starting place on Saturday.

Town’s Head Coach went on to discuss Stoke City and explained that he knows exactly what it’s like to play under a team managed by Paul Lambert as he has played against his side’s twice already during his time at Huddersfield Town.

When speaking to the press ahead of Stoke City, David Wagner commented:

“In terms of changing the manager, usually you never like playing against a team when the opponent changes the manager a few days before you meet them.

“In this case we played stoke three or four weeks ago so we are totally aware of their individuals and what they are capable of.

“We played against Paul Lambert twice since I’ve been here in Huddersfield; Blackburn away when he was in charge and Wolves away when he was in charge, so this means we are aware of what Paul Lambert’s mindset is.

“So, I don’t expect major surprises even though they changed the manager because of these two reasons.

“We played Stoke a short time before and Paul Lambert is someone we have met more often as well, so that’s why in this case, that they changed the manager it isn’t just a big thing for us I think.”
