Head Coach David Wagner explained to HTTV that he was pleased that Huddersfield Town has advanced to the next round of the Emirates FA Cup after a dominant performance.

Wagner thought his team were full value for their win in the second city, and that Town possessed a great offensive threat throughout the evening despite knowing that the task wouldn’t be an easy one.

The Head Coach also expressed his views on how important the victory was to instil a winning feeling amongst the squad after five consecutive defeats.

Despite the eventual emphatic success, Wagner rued a lack of clinical edge throughout normal time but was nonetheless impressed with the energy levels of his players to complete the victory in extra-time.

When speaking to HTTV, David Wagner commented:

“I think we needed the overtime unfortunately, even if I think in the second half we played some fantastic football.

“We created a lot of very good opportunities, but we made it difficult for us because we conceded the first goal after the first chance that they properly had more or less.

“Then we came back, as I said, had a lot of opportunities to score in the normal time, we didn’t use one of those opportunities but then we scored some further goals.

“I think it was a totally deserved win. We’ve seen that the players are totally fit, as long as the game continued, we showed all our strength and fitness levels.

“We played some good football, scored some good goals, which was important.

“This was exactly the win that we needed to build some momentum.”
