OVER 100 WALK FROM HILLSBOROUGH TO HOME

18 October 2016

Regular Keep It Up event another success

- 105 HTAFC fans complete Walk for Pounds 2016
- Supporters walk from Hillsborough to Home with Boothy
- Money raised goes to the Keep It Up campaign

A record league crowd welcomed home 105 fellow supporters on Sunday as the Club’s latest ‘Walk for Pounds’ event – Boothy’s ‘Hillsborough to Home’.

With Sunday’s game being moved forward to a noon kick-off for live Sky Sports coverage, the walkers convened at PPG Canalside at the much earlier time of 2am on Sunday morning before being briefed and bussed across to Hillsborough, courtesy of Stotts Coaches.

Upon arrival in Sheffield, the 23 mile journey back to the John Smith’s Stadium began through dark woods and the lit streets of South Yorkshire, all in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Huddersfield Town Academy!

All 105 fans made it back to Huddersfield safely, with the first group – which included Town’s Head of Football Operations Stuart Webber – arrived back at the stadium well before 9am!

Every supporter made it for the lap of honour around the John Smith’s Stadium pitch at 11.40am, including Club Ambassador Boothy and Commercial Director Sean Jarvis.

The event, sponsored by Absolute Warehouse Services, was the Club’s fourth sponsored walk in aid of the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign.

Funds raised by the walkers will go towards maintaining the YAA’s two lifesaving helicopters as well as assisting the Huddersfield Town Academy.

Boothy told htafc.com:

“I need to say thank you to a number of people who contributed to making the latest Walk for Pounds event such an outstanding success on Sunday.

“First of all, thank you to all the walkers who spent time fundraising and then completed the journey on Sunday. It was a pleasure to meet all of you!

“Thanks also to the amazing support staff; without you organising things behind the scenes, events like this would not be possible.

“Thanks also to the businesses who supported the walk too; our main partner Absolute Warehouse, Total Foodservice for the flapjack, Shepley Spring for the water, Sainsbury’s Dewsbury for the bananas and Yummy Yorkshire for the refreshments.

“A final thank you to everyone who has donated to the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign, which you can still do! Every penny makes a really big difference to two great causes.”
