JOEL'S OVERHEAD KICK VOTED TOWN'S GOAL OF 2015

Lynch's superb strike put forward to Football League Awards

- Voting for Town's best goal of 2015 finished
- Joel Lynch's stunning overhead kick vs Watford wins
- Winning strike will be Town's nomination to Football League Award

Huddersfield Town fans have voted Joel Lynch's stunning overhead kick in the 3-1 home win over Watford as the Club's Goal of 2015!

Joel's strike received 35.8% of the total votes, with Harry Bunn's piledriver at home to Bristol City this season coming second with 24.8% and Nahki Wells' free kick at QPR in December finish third with 16.4%.

The Club has sent Joel's goal to the Football League as its nomination for the Mitre Goal of the Year award at the 2016 Football League Awards, which will be held at Manchester Central. A judging panel will then review the goals with a selection being shown on Channel 5’s Football League Tonight Show. Fans will be given the opportunity to vote for goals to make the final shortlist of five, with the overall winner being decided at the glittering Awards ceremony on 17 April 2016. 

Past winners of the Mitre Goal of the Year have been Joe Garner (Preston North End – 2014), Franck Moussa (Coventry City – 2013), Simon Cox (Nottingham Forest – 2012), Peter Whittingham (Cardiff City – 2011), Dean Furman (Oldham Athletic - 2010), Nicky Maynard (Bristol City – 2009), Sylvain-Ebanks Blake (Wolverhampton Wanderers – 2008), Jermaine Beckford (Leeds United – 2007), Joe Ledley (Cardiff City – 2006) and Stefan Oakes (Notts County – 2005).
