Amazing game and result down in Cheshire

- 4-4 U18 draw in Crewe
- Jack Boyle nets hat-trick
- Striker George Danaher scores too

The Terriers’ Under-18 side came away from Crewe Alexandra with a Professional Development League 2 point on Saturday morning after an amazing game in Cheshire.

Tony Carss’ young side set off brilliantly. Midfielder Adam Porritt hit the post inside two minutes before Jack Boyle opened the scoring shortly afterwards, with his 25 yard free kick being deflected past the home goalkeeper.

Under 18 top scorer Boyle doubled the advantage in the 22nd minute with another set piece, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way from the penalty spot after a Town player was brought down in the area.

It was 3-0 on the stroke of the half hour when Under 16 striker George Danaher netted following more good work and a cross from the impressive Boyle.

Crewe pulled a goal back with a 40th minute header to reduce the arrears at half time and soon won a penalty of their own conceded by trialist centre back Rarmani Edmonds-Green, but goalkeeper Owen Brooke came to the rescue with the save.

When the game restarted, things unravelled for the Terriers. Crewe pulled level with two goals in as many minutes inside the 52nd minute before Brooke conceded a penalty and was sent off.

This time another goalkeeper – Under 16 stopper Ryan Schofield, on Under 18 debut – came on and saved the spot kick to keep the scores level!

Crewe did eventually take the lead in the 63rd minute, only for late drama to rescue the point for 10-man Town. A Crewe player was dismissed for handball in the area, giving Boyle the chance to complete his hat-trick with another penalty.

Highlights from this amazing game will appear on HTTV on Monday!
