ALLINSON SIGNS CONTRACT EXTENSION

24 September 2014

Young goalkeeper signs until 2016

Goalkeeper Lloyd Allinson has today signed a contract extension that will keep him at Huddersfield Town until the summer of 2016.

The Club also has the option of extending the deal by a further season at that point.

The 21 year-old he joined at Under-10 level and has been an unused substitute on several occasions for the First Team, with his first appearance on the bench coming as a 16 year-old way back in October 2010 when Town hosted Peterborough United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Allinson’s experience of senior football to date has come through two loan spells at Evo-Stik League side Ilkeston FC during the 2011/12 and 2013/14 seasons.

He is an ever-present for Frankie Bunn’s Under-21 so far in 2014/15, adding to the 11 starts he made at that level last season.

Huddersfield Town’s Head of Goalkeeping Nick Colgan explained:

“We feel Lloyd progressed last year and he’s had a little spring in his step. He has a good head on his shoulders and confidence, which is a huge aspect of goalkeeping.

“He’s done well on the training ground, but as with all young goalkeepers that are still lots of areas in which he needs to tidy up and improve.

“We’ve been giving him a number of games for the Under-21s so he can show people what he can do and when the Club feels the time is right, there is a possibility of a loan move if the opportunity arises.”

Huddersfield Town Manager Chris Powell added:

“Having spoken to the technical staff and from what I’ve seen so far, Lloyd is a goalkeeper with potential and it’s good news for the Club that we’ve secured his future for at least the next two seasons.

“The key now is for Lloyd to keep working hard on a day to day basis with our Head of Goalkeeping Nick Colgan in order to continue his progression.”
