ORCHARD CONTINUES P4P SPONSORSHIP

4 March 2014

Club Partner gives backing for a second year

Huddersfield Town Club Partner The Orchard Group has backed the upcoming ‘Pink Link Pedal for Pounds 5’ fundraising bike ride.

Orchard’s distinctive logo will appear on the outfits of the support team – the people who make ‘Pedal for Pounds’ possible behind the scenes throughout the four days – and on the back of the riders’ shirts, as well as the shirts that they will be awarded upon completion of the ‘Chapman Trail’.

Orchard’s affiliation with the Club’s annual charity bike ride began last year. However, this time around they have moved through the gears and have now funded 300 helmet covers, which each cyclist will receive in the colour of their team so that they can identify their teammates on the road.

Managing Director Gareth Henderson and Director Neil Ewing of The Orchard Group will also take part in the 250 mile round trip, which takes in Cambridge, Leicester and Doncaster.

Gareth joined Town’s Advertising Manager Mark Jacobs at PPG Canalside with the official shirt that the P4P5 cyclists will wear.

The 'Chapman Trail' is the fifth charity bike ride in aid of the Keep It Up campaign. The KIU campaign has so far raised a massive £980,000 shared equally between the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Huddersfield Town Academy.

Town’s Supporter Partnerships Manager Robyn Deegan thanked The Orchard Group for its support:

“The ‘Pedal for Pounds’ bike rides are big operations and become quite complicated logistically, so support from the business community – both financial and through other methods – is very important to its success.

“The Orchard Group’s backing for the support team is absolutely vital, as without them we could not undertake the ride.

“I would like to thank The Orchard Group on behalf of the Club for its continued terrific backing. It’s brilliant news that Gareth and Neil will once again take part in the event and will feel first-hand what a fantastic experience the bike ride is – both for the cyclists and thanks to the money it generates for two incredibly worthwhile causes.”

Orchard Group Managing Director Gareth Henderson said: “Pedal for Pounds inspires Huddersfield Town fans to raise money year after year and as a local business and club partner The Orchard Group is delighted to be sponsoring the event and supplying the cyclists’ shirts for the second year running.

“It’s no easy challenge for the cyclists, as we know from our experience of taking part last year, but it is for a very worthy cause and I’m delighted to say Orchard’s Directors will be back on their bikes again this year.”
