DEVELOPMENT PLAYERS SIGN CONTRACTS

29 May 2013

U21 players put pen to paper

The six Development Squad players offered new contracts at the conclusion of the 2012/13 season have all now put pen to paper on their new deals.

Defender Tom Smith and striker Max Leonard have both signed one year contracts until June 2014, with the Club having the option of a further year’s extension, whereas goalkeeper Lloyd Allinson (pictured above) has signed a new two year contract that runs until June 2015.

The other three players – defenders James Burke, Robbie McIntyre and midfielder Dale Hopson – have signed six month contracts that will run until 1 January 2014.

Those players add to Under-21 Captain Jordan Sinnott, whose contract was extended to June 2014 through a contract clause at the end of the season.

Huddersfield Town Manager Mark Robins explained that the challenge is now down to these players, along with other Development Squad members and new first year professionals, to make an impression on the First Team during the 2013/14 season.

“It’s good news for the Club that these six players have signed new contracts and will stay with us.

“They enjoyed measurable success as a team during the last season by making the Under-21 Play-Offs and now their next challenge is to impress in matches and in training day in, day out in order to progress and push the First Team setup.

“We saw during last season that players will get a chance if they impress; Jordan Sinnott made his senior debut and fared well. That’s proof that the pathway to the First Team exists if these players do well. We are looking for more to step up next season.”
