ROBINS: WE NEED A POSITIVE RESULT

4 March 2013

Manager looks ahead to back to back home games

It is a big week for Huddersfield Town with back to back home games - and manager Mark Robins is desperate for two positive results starting on Tuesday against Middlesbrough.

“We need to compete and battle hard on Tuesday night to put to bed what happened on Saturday,” said Robins.

“We need to get a positive result and then build on that for Saturday’s game against Charlton. They are both good games and we need to do far better than we did on Saturday.”

Town suffered another heavy defeat on Saturday at Brighton leaving them five points above the relegation zone.

“There are no quick fixes to the problems that we have at the moment,” explained Robins. “We have been where we are for a long time now. The first sixty minutes on Saturday were OK, but only OK. We are trying to push the players as much as we can do and give the fans something to get excited about.

“We set-up well and didn’t really look under any danger until we conceded. I think we deserved to get level and at half-time we knew that we had to work harder and press them more, but we were positive. We allowed them too much space to exploit and then we fell apart when there second goal went in.

“We can’t forget what happened on Saturday because it is a part of our make-up and we need to get rid of it. Some of the goals conceded were far too easy; we need to be stronger mentally.”

Top scorer James Vaughan will miss both home games after picking up his tenth booking of the season at The Amex, but Robins could have right-back Calum Woods available who suffered a knock to the bottom of his hamstring against Burnley.

“We have lost James Vaughan for two games so that is a blow because he has been the one who has been scoring the goals. Calum has a problem with his hamstring and I think Saturday’s game came a bit too soon for him; hopefully we will have him back for Tuesday night.”
