HIGHTOWN VISIT SUCCESS CENTRE

Pupils and families head to the Stadium

A group of pupils and parents from Hightown School in Liversedge visited Huddersfield Town Success Centre recently to take part in a three day Family Numeracy project.

The project involved pupils and parents working together to complete a series of fun maths activities. Over the course of two full school days in January the participants worked on a series of web based computer activities, console games, money based tasks and maths strategy challenges. The whole group also took part in a stadium tour during, which they bumped into a couple of players, providing a welcome photo opportunity!

The third part of the project took place on the day of the Cardiff City home match. The Club gave each participant a free ticket for the match as pupils and parents had decided to use the match, crowd and pitch stats to brush up on their functional maths skills during before and after the game.

“I really enjoyed the fun activities at the Success Centre, especially doing penalty shootout maths!” one pupil commented.

Huddersfield Town Success Centre is a schools and community focused educational centre jointly managed by Huddersfield Town and Kirklees Council and is based in the suite of classrooms in the Fantastic Media Stand.
